The use of motor homes are becoming more popular for family vacations and travel during retirement. You may remember past renditions of traditional motor homes enjoyed by your grandparents and older generations. However, motor homes have a fresh new look! Today's motor homes are available with a wide range of options, from basic motor homes with limited functionality to luxurious motor homes complete with all the comforts of modern residences. The sleek look of new motor homes can be enticing but the price points can also be a little intimidating. That's why we recommend our rent a motor home program for new RV travelers. This program allows you to enjoy the motor home experience at an affordable rate. Families love this approach and after renting a motor home many families move on to purchase their very own RV.

Lynn and JC MacNaught initially wanted to escape the cold of winter while traveling the U.S. in their 34-foot travel trailer looking for a warmer place to settle. “Even though our original goal was to find someplace warmer, we quickly realized that there was an opportunity for us to try out two retirement options at once. We’re able to test the full-timer lifestyle (living full time in an RV) while exploring potential areas where we might settle permanently if we decide to hang up the keys,” says Lynn.

RV Cooking Tips

Check out these simple cooking tips to try for your next RV trip. This article shares several tricks to make cooking on your RV quick and easy. Remember it's all about proper preparation!

• Plan Ahead. This is one of the most important elements of RV cooking. You can make sauces, stews, soups, and other side dishes ahead and freeze them, then you just need to warm them up for dinner.

• Make mixes ahead of time. If you're going to make bread, measure out all the dry ingredients into a plastic bag, and then simply add the wet ingredients when you're ready to bake. The same goes for pancakes, waffles, breading mixes, and other types of flours and mixes. Measure them out ahead of time, then you only have to mix and cook in the kitchen, and you don't have to carry around all the different ingredients, taking up space in your small RV pantry.

• Marinate meats and vegetables ahead of time. You can transport meats and vegetables in their marinades in plastic bags. When you're ready to cook, they're already marinated, which saves you another step along the way.

• Plan to grill several meals, or at least grill some of the items on the menu, to help free up space in the kitchen.
